...but not really!
My Genius Hour project was an excellent opportunity to explore what kinds of resources were out there! I discovered strategies that i will be able to implement into my own classroom in terms of engaging my students. One of the biggest things I took away from this project was that my lesson need to be student-oriented. Provide an array of possibilities to empower students in the classroom. Give them freedom to explore topics that interest them. Let them explore and discover, collaborate and create!
Yes! I gained a lot of awesome resources from other teachers. I also learned that I can create my own innovative lessons for students. Next week I will be teaching these lessons. I am nervous to teach for the first time, however I am also very excited to see if my students are engaged with the lesson I have created or will I need to modify it for next time?! I'll find out soon.
I hope that one day, I can be that "good" teacher that everyone remembers, that everyone reflects on. I hope that I can be a person that students can look up to, someone that they know will support them in their learning endeavors. Although my Genius Hour project is coming to an end, I know that my knowledge and understanding of student engagement will continue to grow with my professional development and practice becoming the teacher that I want to me.
Thank you and stay inspired!
